When my oldest was a toddler, The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham were two of his favorite books. For a while, we would read them almost every night, and since he had heard it so many times, Green Eggs and Ham was one of the first books he read on his own. It came as no surprise then that he would love the animated classics as well. In particular, one of his all time favorites is How the Grinch Stole Christmas. When I heard that a collector's edition of our favorite Dr. Seuss classics was being released on DVD and Blu-ray, I knew that my kids would be excited to own it. Here is a little about the Hats Off to Dr. Seuss Collector's Edition:
Prepare to enter into the magical, whimsical world of Dr. Seuss with Warner Bros. Home Entertainment (WBHE) release of Hats Off to Dr. Seuss Collector's Edition, a must-own collection featuring five of the author's most beloved animated classics, which are available together on Blu-ray™ and DVD in deluxe editions for the first time. Set for release on February 19, 2013, this compilation will include such all-time favorite TV specials as The Lorax, Green Eggs and Ham and Other Stories, How the Grinch Stole Christmas!, The Cat in the Hat and Horton Hears a Who! along with loads of original enhanced content. All five specials are re-mastered for brilliant picture and sound quality. Blu-ray edition of this release will retail for $59.99 SRP and the standard edition DVD will retail for $44.98 SRP.
WBHE pays tribute to Theodor Geisel, known to most as the beloved Dr.Seuss, with the release of Hats Off to Dr. Seuss Collector's Edition. For the first time, the studio is bringing together some of the celebrated author's most cherished television specials in one, must-own-collection. Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Seuss wore many different hats and captured the hearts of many by sharing his multifaceted talents as author, sculptor, political cartoonist, artist and visionary. WBHE celebrates Dr. Seuss's legacy by putting together the most comprehensive collection of his animated television specials to date.
My thoughts: Although we do own a few of Dr. Seuss's animated classics on DVD, it is nice to have them all together in one set. When the Blu-ray arrived in the mail, my kids immediately wanted to watch it and the first disk they put in was The Cat in the Hat. This collector's edition is perfect for our family because we had never seen The LORAX and Horton Hears a Who! in the animated version. There are also plenty of special features that we are interested in including 4 interactive puzzles, as well as four bonus Dr. Seuss classics: Daisy-Head Mayzie, The Hoober-Bloob Highway, Pontoffel Pock & His Magic Piano, and Butter Battle Book. The Hats Off to Dr. Seuss Collector's Edition is perfect for any fan of Dr. Seuss.
Disclosure: I received a copy of the Blu-ray to review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own and are my honest opinion of the Blu-ray.
