Bridesmaids DVD Review and My Girls Night In

Last night I held my Girls Night In to celebrate the release of Bridesmaids on Blu-ray and DVD. I decorated the dining room with black and pink streamers and balloons, and of course there was yummy food to eat! I bought a vegetable, fruit, and cheese and crackers platter, Tostitos chips and salsa, chocolate, soda, and some sparkling white grape juice. While we enjoyed munching before the movie, after the movie we finished off the evening with ice cream cake-yummy!!!!

Of course, the main highlight of the evening was watching Bridesmaids, which will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on September 20th. I can remember watching the trailer and thinking that it looked like a funny movie. Here is the synopsis:

Thirty-something Annie (Kristen Wiig) has hit a rough patch but finds her life turned completely upside down  when she takes on the Maid of Honor role in her best friend Lillian's (Maya Rudolph) wedding. In way over her head but determined to succeed, Annie leads a hilarious hodgepodge of bridesmaids (Rose Byrne, Melissa McCarthy, Wendi McLendon-Covey and Ellie Kemper) on a wild ride down the road to the big event.

Our thoughts: Overall, we thought that the movie was funny and cute! We enjoyed watching the adventures of Annie as she becomes the Maid of Dishonor. In this movie, Annie's life is a mess. She is in a terrible relationship, her cake business failed, and she has a bad car. And life as the Maid of Honor is not easy for her, due to the fact of Lillian's newest best friend, Helen, who seems to upstage her every step of the way. Helen is not only beautiful and rich, but can do everything better than Annie. For example, Annie brings all of the bridal party to a sketchy looking restaurant which is supposed to have great food, except everyone but Helen ends up with food poisoning. On top of it, the food poisoning affects them when they are at a super expensive Bridal store to pick out bridesmaids dresses. I am sure that this food poisoning scene will become well known, as it is totally gross and will probably stick in my mind for a while to come. This scene sets the tone for everything that will go wrong for Annie in the movie. Poor Annie ruins the bachelorette party, gets fired from her current job, is asked to leave an apartment she shares with unusual roommates, and throws away the chance to have a relationship with a really great guy. The question is will she be able to turn things around?

Although, this movie is funny-be aware it is known for its raunchiness. There were a few parts that we thought could have been left out, and we also felt as a group that they did not need to swear as much. But despite that, we did have many good laughs! And of course, we all enjoyed hanging out together.

Disclosure: Thanks to Universal Home Entertainment for providing party decorations, as well as a gift card to buy food and additional supplies. All opinions of the movie are my opinions and my guests.
