Chicken Soup for the Soul: Country Music {Review and Giveaway}

I have to admit, I do not really listen to country music. However, after watching this season's American Idol that may change. As I watched, I had three top favorites: James Durbin, Scotty McCreery, and Lauren Alaina. I was very surprised that the top two finalists were country singers and I really enjoyed listening to them all season. I just loved both of the songs that were picked out for them to sing as their first single. Lauren Alaina's song "Like My Mother Does" is a beautiful tribute to mothers, and Scotty 's song "I Love You This Big" I love to sing as well. I always think of my two boys when I hear this song and how sometimes they will say to me I love you this much with their arms spread wide. I immediately had to buy both songs on Itunes.

If you love country music, you will enjoy reading Chicken Soup for the Soul: Country Music:

Songs tell a story, and now many of country music's most famous singers and songwriters are sharing more of the story! These artists reveal the inspiration, influence, and background, and when and why they wrote their most famous songs, in this fresh collection of stories. The book also includes great photos of the songwriters and lyrics of many of the songs. A great gift for anyone who loves country music!

My thoughts: Although I am not a fan of country music, I browsed through the index to pick out some songs that I enjoy such as: "I Hope You Dance", "The Devil Went Down to Georgia", and "Wind Beneath My Wings". Songs always tell a story, and I loved reading about the background story of each of these songs. It gives you a perspective of what these songs really mean to those who wrote it. And I also enjoyed reading the lyrics-especially to "I Hope You Dance". I just love this song which reminds me not to get caught up in the rush of each day, but to enjoy each moment of my life. Each day is truly a blessing from God.
