My youngest son loves trains. That is one of the toys he asked for at Christmas time, so when I put on the newest DVD release from Dinosaur Train, he was very interested. He watched all eight episodes in one sitting. Here is a brief synopsis of Dinosaur Train: Pteranodon Family World Tour Adventure:
Get on board the Dinosaur Train with Buddy, a Tyrannosaurus Rex, and his adoptive family of Pteranodons as they embark on a roaring, exploring world tour adventure to discover a variety of dinosaurs inhabiting the globe as they journey to Asia, Europe and Africa. From the world-renowned Jim Henson Company, PBS KIDS and Paramount Home Entertainment, the DINOSAUR TRAIN: PTERANODON FAMILY WORLD TOUR ADVENTURE DVD includes eight exciting edu-tainment adventures, interactive games, coloring pages, a dinosaur reference guide and parent information. Boasting incredible CGI animation and an average monthly viewership of 11.9 million, the “Dinosaur Train” is a Parents’ Choice recommended PBS KIDS TV series and is one of the top ten shows for kids 2 to 5.
Our thoughts: Both boys enjoyed watching the DVD. Dinosaurs and trains are a great combination to catch a young boy's attention. My youngest son was really interested in the train as he watched the Pteranodon family explore it. He was excited that it was possible to both eat and sleep on a train. I thought the graphics were amazing and the colors used were vibrant.
As you read the back of the DVD I love that they include what children will learn from the episodes: Harnessing children's enthusiam for and curiosity about dinosaurs, Dinosaur Train sparks 3 - 6 year old children's interest in life science and natural history. The show encourages children to compare the characteristics of ancient animals with those that are alive today. As they explore a variety of interesting animals past and present, children develop the inquiry skills and core knowledge needed to help them think, talk, and act like scientists.
So if your children are interested in dinosaurs, trains, or science, this would be a great DVD to watch!
Disclosure: I was sent a copy of Dinosaur Train by M80 on behalf of Paramount Home Entertainment to review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own and are my honest opinion of the product.
