When I was a child, I loved Scooby-Doo, so I am happy that my two boys love it now. My boys were very excited when they heard that we would be reviewing the double feature Scooby-Doo: The Movie & Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed on Blu-ray, which was released on November 9. Both movies feature Fred (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Daphne (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Shaggy (Matthew Lillard), Velma (Linda Cardellini), and of course Scooby Doo.
In Scooby-Doo: The Movie, the gang has been reunited by Emile Mondavarious, to help solve a mystery on the amusement park Spooky Island. When they arrive at the island, Emile Mondavarious tells the gang that a spell has been placed on the teen visitors. Slowly the teens on the island are being possessed by demons. As the sleuths investigate they learn from Voodoo Maestro that if the leader of the demons absorbs a pure soul, the demons will rule the Earth for the next 10,000 years. So of course Mystery Inc. sets a trap, but will they be able to stop the demons from ruling the Earth?
In Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, the Evil Masked Figure has created a machine that produces real-life versions of Mystery Incorporated's former villains. During the movie, Shaggy and Scooby start questioning their roles in the gang and are determined to try to solve the mystery on their own. This appears to be one of the gang's most challenging cases ever! Of course, working together, as always, they are able to unmasked their ultimate villain.
Scooby Doo 2 was my boys favorite of the double feature. They have watched the movie multiple times, and they love that it has so many villains in it. I enjoy watching the movie myself, and it is great for family movie night!
If your kids love Scooby Doo, this double feature would make a great gift for the holidays. You can check out the official site at www.warnerblu.com, or get the inside scoop on WB movie & DVD releases! www.wbreelnews.com.
