Delighting in Babies-Baby Shower Event: Tommee Tippee Review

With each of my boys I decided to breastfeed. It wasn't always easy. My oldest boy had trouble latching on and so I had to pump and give him a bottle for the first week. We were nervous whether he would go back to the breast, but he did. Breastfeeding with my middle child was easy. With my newest, I don't know whether it was the c-section or not, but it took a few days to become comfortable. However, by the time I left the hospital he was feeding well. I have loved breastfeeding my boys-it is a great way to bond and it is the one thing I can provide my baby that no one else can do. The only downfall to breastfeeding is my modesty-I have always felt uncomfortable about feeding in public. In the past I have used a baby blanket to cover up, but I didn't feel like it did a good job. I wouldn't have ever considered breastfeeding at a friend's house or a store. With my first two boys, I never considered a nursing cover, thinking it was a luxury more than a necessity. However, recently I was given the opportunity to review a nursing cover from Tommee Tippee and I have come to realize how great a nursing cover can be.

When I first think of Tommee Tippee, their bottles and tableware come to mind. I have seen their products at Target and Babies R Us, but I never realized how many different types of products they sell. They sell bottles, bibs, sippy cups, breast pumps, tableware, cleaning products, video monitors, nursing covers, and more. I was so excited to have the opportunity to work with them on a review of their Closer to Nature Feeding Cover as well as their Closer to Nature Sensitive Tummy Feeding Bottles.

My thoughts: I absolutely love my Closer to Nature Feeding Cover. This nursing cover is big enough to allow me to feel comfortable breastfeeding in public. It is stylish as well as practical, and there is even a terry lining on the bottom of the inside for wiping up my little one. The strap is adjustable and allows me to see my baby while I feed him.  I have actually felt comfortable enough to breastfeed at a friend's house where a bunch of people meet on Friday nights, as well as in front of my extended family. I never would have considered this before using my nursing cover. Instead I would have left the room, or else, given him a bottle of formula. I just wish I hadn't waited so long to use one.

Although I almost always exclusively breastfeed my little one, we do supplement from time to time with formula. However, at times he is fussy and gassy and so I was excited to try out the Closer to Nature Sensitive Tummy Feeding Bottles. These bottles are perfect for my little one since not only do they help with extra fussiness and gas, but with excessive spit up as well. Here are a few highlights about this bottle from their website:
  • Super-sensitive anti-colic vent tube provides optimum venting during feeding to help reduce colic and discomfort
  • Bottles are accompanied by slow flow non-vented nipples designed just for this bottle to prevent air and vacuum build up
  • Nipple mimics natural feel, flex and movement of breastfeeding
  • Wide neck nipple for easier latch on
  • BPA & Phthalate Free
Not only does Tommee Tippee have great products, but they also offer a free digital storybook to help you document memories of your little one called The Day Baby Was Born. With this digital storybook you can:

  • Create and own a free pregnancy journal filled with memories.
  • Send pregnancy and birth announcements to your closest family and friends.

  1. I nursed both of my kids and never liked nursing in public either. Wish they had this when my kids were babies!

  2. I didn't breast feed but know a lot who do decide to breast feed. This would probably make a great gift for a baby shower as well. It sounds like a great product and I enjoyed your review.
