The Gratitude Challenge Day 4

Today's challenge is: Write a short message of thanks for some of the "negative" things in your life.

This is a tough one. When I thought about today's challenge, the verse from Philippians 4:4 came to my mind: Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say rejoice. Another verse that came to mind was James 1:2-4: Consider it all joy, my brethren, when you encounter various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its perfect result, so that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.

I guess despite the negatives in my life, the Bible tells us that we should face the trials in our life with joy. I do know that trials always bring us closer to the Lord.

A visiting missionary to my church recently said that God has sovereignly placed us where we are. I need to remember that God is in control of all things and He has given me strength to face some of the "negatives" in my life.

  2. Ok, a short message of thanks for the negative things in my life:
I am grateful to God that we did not give us children. After years of unsuccessful infertility treatments we came to the painful resolution. Not having our own children has allowed us to be super Aunt Steph and Super Uncle Vinny to our nieces and nephews, who we love do deeply and know love us deeply too.
There...I did it. More importantly, I meant it.
    Blessings!

  3. I am grateful that my son's father is not in our lives, that he does not see or spend time with our son, and that he is not paying child support. I believe God is preparing us for something greater. My son is only surrounded by people who love him, and he is not under negative influences. I never knew my own strength until I became a single mom. Thank you, God!!
